She apologized...
I didn't think it would happen, ever. But I was wrong and she's more intelligent and much nicer than I have previously given her credit for.
Long story short, an ex-g/f was suddenly interested in going out again about a year ago. "Cool" says me, but wait, turns out she's going through a break-up and needs an external lever to force her current beau out.
That would be me.
Now, I realized what was happening because it wasnt' the first time a girl has done this but I'm kinda dumb and I'd hoped that there was more to it than just her immediate need to get the other guy to leave.
There wasn't...
Oh well. I could have walked at any time and helping someone out (even if it's a strange proposition) is always a good thing.
So, three weeks after the other guy finally gets the message that the relationship is over, she magically loses interest in me. Not a big shock, but definitely a disappointment.
Fast forward to last night, she and I were talking and she apologized for, what? Playing me, I guess. I was surprised because I thought that she had internally justified her actions by lying to herself, claiming that her passing interest in me was unconnected to other events.
I don't know if I deserved an apology since I was complicit in what happened, but at the same time it felt really good to hear the acknowledgement that the situation was fucked. And, it's super cool that she wasn't just lying to herself to avoid personal responsibility for her actions.
Disclaimer:
I like girls! They're great. The above whine is about a particular person and shouldn't be taken as a general rendering of the poster's estimation of any one gender.
