Here it is...the last day of my 32 year of existence. The emotional roller coaster I'm on doesn't really transpose to the written word so well. And I dont know if its really the Birthday thing that's causing it. It just might be coincidential. I dont know. In the meantime, here's some choice words from The Afghan Whigs.
Crazy
Whatever did happen to your soul?
I heard you sold it
To some old boy who lived uptown
Who could afford it
So what's gonna happen to you now?
Therapy... the pharmacy
Crazy
That's what you'd like to believe
But it ain't easy
When yer goin' crazy
Over the rainbow
"i think your story's jive," she said
There ain't nuthin' wrong with me
If i use it to get me some sympathy
Some ecstasy
A memory... i wanna remember me
Crazy about ya
Crazy without ya
Crazy
Over you
I was trying to find that one song that fit my mood as of late. 'Crazy' pretty much sums it up. Things have been chaotic, to say the least. But then again, not really. Mostly in my head, I guess. Go fucking figure. Maybe old age is just setting in....?
Well, the party thing seems to have fallen through. I used to make fun of my parents for not being able to throw bashes...and now I understand what they were going through. No one has the time....even though its free booze. Go figure. Just not enough bodies about, or general interest, so it seems. I remember the days when I'd have huge house bashes at the drop of a hat. No problems, save for having to get pitch-ins for another keg. Now, I cant get a large group of people to save my life. It's a little depressing, I guess. I'd hoped for huge send-off into the realm of '33'. We'll still have fun, the folx that'll be coming out to hang (yep, that means you, Ms.
Aponia). Still, I cant help to feel a little...bummed about the whole thing. Bah...Ill just go buy records instead with the keg money.
In other news, tix for the upcoming
Morrissey and Social Distortion shows go on sale tomorrow. Mo will go fast, even though there are two dates. SD...who knows? I still plan on getting my tix early. The new release from The Mark Lanegan Band is fucking incredible. Bubblegum is an all around excellent album, mixing the old school sensibilities of Mark's old projects like the Screaming Trees with his new love of pop/fop. A very diverse album, lyrically and musically. Pick it up if you have a clue.
In the music box as of late:
1.) Afghan Whigs - 1965
2.) Eurythmics - Greatest Hits
3.) Depeche Mode - Black Celebration
4.) Kate Bush - The Red Shoes
5.) PW Long - Push Me Again
