For those of you that don't know, Im a News Videographer for CBS here in philly. And I work weekends. That means that I'm the fuck that had to stay out all weekend with the snowstorm. That's right....for two days I had to sit in the snow, drive in the snow, pee in the snow....errrr, scratch that last part. Luckily, I was in the city for the most part, so I was able to get off on time and not drive to far. It was cold, wet, and a little bit of a pain in the ass. Sometimes I wish I had a 'normal' job that let me sit in the house all bundled up while watch the snowfall from my window.
On Saturday morning, I dug out my block's sidewalks, helped folx with get their car out of the snow, and dug a path through THREE FEET of snow on my roof deck. Yup....3FT. Apparently the snowdrift piled up on my deck. It looked really cool...right up to the back door's window. I've got pictures, but they're being develeoped right now. It looked cool, though.
Yesterday, I made it up to Jack Frost for some much needed snowboarding. I woke up late (as usual) so I didnt make it up to the mountain until about 1pm. The Poconos didnt get nearly as much snow as we did here in the city. Still, it was good...after my first couple of runs, that is. Fell on my ass trying to not run over a poor kid sprawled out on a Blue Diamond run. At the same time I'm trying to weave away from two really slow pre-teens taking way too big of turns while goig really slow. I was a little pissed, but I got right back up and hit it again. By the end of the day, I was shredding the mountains, pulling off some record speed. Im so goddamn sore today, it unbelievable.
Oh, and I missed the Burlesque show last night at Silk City...not only did a goddamn headache sneak up on me, but my take out Greek food royally fucked up my stomach. Kind of a bummer....

You're right, print journalists do have a much easier transition going to broadcasting than the other way around. Just a matter of editing.
The thought of taking the test in town never came to me. Always figured a rookie without much experience wouldn't have a chance getting work in the 5th or 6th largest market.
otherwise, I can usually take Tues and Wed off so if nothing else, I'll go! I haven't been up there in a while, but always had a blast when I did take the trip.
