I missed my regular entry yesterday; I had to attend a funeral. Two very close friends of mine lost their father quite suddenly - definitely tragic.
Having lost my brother two years ago, it was certainly a day of some reflection.
Therefore, Day 4's thoughts are on death and dying:
"He's dead, Jim"
- Leonard McCoy
"Death hath this also; that it openeth the gate to good fame, and extinguisheth envy."
- Francis Bacon
"I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather. Not screaming in terror like his passengers."
- Jim Harkins
"What happens if you get scared
half to death twice?"
- Unknown
"It is better to die on your feet
than to live on your knees."
- Emiliano Zapata
On a tombstone:
"I TOLD YOU I WAS SICK"
- Tony Campolo
"On the plus side, death is one of the few things that can be done just as easily lying down."
- Woody Allen
"Alas, I am dying beyond my means."
- Oscar Wilde, as he sipped champagne on his deathbed
"Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box."
- Unknown

good times.... good times....
and my condolences to your pals.
I'm so sorry about your grandmother. My homage to my favorite Grandmother, who passed on about 8 years ago, and I still miss her, is going to be a small part of a larger tattoo. She loved gardening and had a thing for African violets, so I'm going to have a small Dia de los Muertos style skull in the middle of an African violet flower amidst other flowers in the larger tattoo. I am also going to incorporate her name, but I'm not sure how I'll do it. The whole tattoo is a symbolic reference to my ideas about life and death, and I think it will incorporate seamlessly.
Yeah I know exactly what I want for my tattoos, but I can't draw very well. I drew out part of one, but I'm just gonna have to meet up with someone really good and explain exactly what I want to them. I'll bring examples, so it should work pretty well. I'm getting the outsides of both legs done. My right leg will be about my feelings on life and death, and my left leg will be about the mutable nature of reality.
Whew! Sorry about the rambling, I just get excited.
