Holy crap, where the hell have I been?
Working! Yay! But, there's no telling on whether or not it's going to last or how frequent i'm going to get work. Currently, i've been learning everything from my uncle that I can about murals and faux finishing. The faux part has been something i've been pretty good at, but when it comes to hand painted art - i'm only so good up to a certain size. Still, that doesn't answer the question to my whereabouts: Ten days, 20k square feet, 5 bottles of American Tradition Mocha glaze, four cotton t-shirt rags, one paint tray and an hour drive there and back. It's a beautiful home... from their hill top, you can see John Travolta's new home being built, along with Eddie Murphy's property (he's trying to sell the place for 10 million, waaay too much imho). In any case, i did a wonderful fireplace refinish that the owner ended up hating and thinking it was "too busy," so i'll have to get new pictures for it. However, this is what i did with it originally:
How about them apples? Okay okay, so the resolution isn't the best, but the originals are too big to put on the site to really show off the texture of the piece, but it's really really nice. All in all, my uncle and his business partner made the bulk of the cash and I got a nice $150 a day wage out of it. My uncle is trying to teach me all that he can about it so that I can take his place (and his wages) once he's ready to retire, but i definately need a lot more practice. $150 a day is nice, but i'd rather be making the $24,000 to $40,000 they each average a month - I have needs and wants to blow cash on.
This month's philosophy: - No means eat me out first.
Any takers?
