Saturday was my active introduction to S. California SG culture. I came across cedar on OKC a short time ago, and the open SGOC event seemed like a great place to meet. I'm all about killing as many birds with as few stones as possible (metaphorically only, of course). So not only did I get to flirt with Cedar in person, I got to meet Nementh and breezey and Koleeta as well as a bunch of other people whose usernames I haven't been able to track down. I was especially excited to meet Gene (was that his name?) who lives in Tustin. I haven't made any guy friends since moving to Irvine and he seems like a promising candidate. Has anyone discovered his username? He said it was incredibly embarrassing and asked about being able to change it. UPDATE: Gene's username is RaVeRgene. His embarrassment over this past affiliation with the KandyKids should be met with mockery and snark. It's the only way he'll learn to revel in his past, and not run from it.
I'm pretty excited to have found such a cool community.. even though few of the event attendees seemed to actually live in OC. That only confirms my growing conviction about this place, unfortunately.
After some good, clean, cultured (yes, in OC. Who knew?) fun with Cedar, I somehow managed to invite myself to Cedar's friend's birthday party in Los Angeles. So not only did I get to hang out with my new SG friends, but I got to meet bean and hopefully advance my application in SGLA. I don't want to go in to the details of my Rockband performance, nor my participation (or lack-thereof) in kareoke, but I had an amazing time and can't wait for my next SG event.
Okay. That's all I got. Now I have to somehow prepare myself for a return to my standard OC life. At least for the next few days. Then it's off to India! Is there SGIndia? Me thinks not?
