I sat for twenty minutes this morning, drinking my OJ, watching a praying mantis hunt. She was big, probably about three inches long. She was sitting on the side of the house which is yellow, and she was the most beautiful vibrant green. She was after a moth that must have been sitting there from last night. The moth wasn't moving and neither was the mantis. They just sat there in this intense motionless face-off. I knew that as soon as the moth even twitched the mantis would strike.
So I waited and waited and waited, sipping my OJ, enjoying being witness to this little drama.
Then there it was. Just the tiniest tiniest little flutter from the moth and *BAM* the mantis hit so fast you could barely see it. I got up close to it while it was eating and I swear there was ecstatic joy in it's eyes as it devoured the moth's soft body, leaving the inedible wings behind.
It winked at me and then flew away.
Insects are the best.

I'm moving to the Annapolis area, mostly around Crofton, Davidsonville, and the like. If I'm really out of luck I guess the Glen Burnie area, but we'll see. And where will you be?

I can't believe you got to see that! That kicks so much ass!
