I loved the pics of space and i from the Zoo so much i hesitated to even write a new blog and miss seeing them but much has happened since.
First off, about 3 days ago i came down with an EPIC case of the flu, and it has dug its heels in and refuses to leave. I have been fluctuating between running a fever as high as 103, with mad crazy chills...to having the fever break in my sleep and me waking up freezing with completely soaked bed clothes. This has also has to be a bummer for Space, who has to not only deal with me being weak miserable and whiny to also having to wake up in bed sheet soaked with my sweat. I feel really bad about it. It cant be very pleasant, it isnt for me either and im the one causing it. She has be an Angel though..taking amazing care of me..I love her to pieces. She is really good to me.
In other news the jobg front remains bleak and is getting worse. These last few weeks i have been going to work for Labor Ready. Well if you want to call it working Here is a typical day in the life of me at Labor Ready...
Up at 4:20AM to catch the bus by 4:55AM
Pay the $3.20 to the bus driver and head to the office
Arrive at the Office at 5:40AM and sign in and grab a chair to wait
Around 630AM they start calling some people up and handing out job assignments..this happens until around 730AM very sporadically.
On the chance i get selected to work, i get into a car with one of the workers who drive and head to the job.
Most jobs last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours and pay 7.10 an hour..
If i am lucky to make it on a full 8 hour job i will get a check for 52.10
After getting my check i pay the driver from work 6 dollars for driving me (each person that gets a ride does tis)
Then its time to catch the bus, pay another $3.20 and head home.
Arrive home at about 3:30pm depending on the on tthe length of day.
Sound sweet huh? Well the down side.
The Math...
For an 8 hour shift
52.10
-6.40
-6.00
= 39.70
-luxeries a pack of cigs for me and space 14.00
= 25.70
- next days bus fare 6.40
leave Surplus of 19.30!!!!
And while this is not great..if this happend exactly this day 5 days a week i would net 400 bucks a month.
However, I get sent out to work maybe 2 out of 10 times. which after three days of not being sent has eaten up all my surplus in bus fare alone.
This is no way to earn a living and something needs to change. I cants even go out there now because i do not have money to catch the bus and await some money in the mail and then i guess its back at it.
The saddest part is..if any of the jobs i have applied for actually decide to call me..i have no money to get to them...le ghey.
Something must change soon. i keep hoping..hope is all i have right now.
However i do have a plan..with the money i have coming in a may take a page out of the Mercie playbook and get certified to tend bar in NJ. It cost 400 bucks but they have a payment plan and i see plenty of job openings for drink slingers. I have to do something...this may be my ticket out.of the hole i am in. I have slung drinks before, made good money as a second job even and had a blast doing it.
So that is what i am pondering., I am going to look into finding the money for the Cert and "training" hehe
Speaking of training, while looking up the schools that train you and get you the NATIONAL certification, i decided to look up the link to the trainers they have.
most had a max of 6 years exp and worked at places like Applebees, TGIF, Joe's Crab Shack..etc
Im sorry but are those really a "true" bartender position? I worked in a bar that on the weekend was consitantly 15-20 customers deep waiting for drinks for the majority of the shift. I have never seen this happen at a TGIF etc...and i never had to use the blender making such awesome beverages as the "Rooty Tooty Rum Rum Fruity Grande Colada. Is thst a drink or a dessert?
/rant
ok my eyes are bugging and im getting achey...time to curl uo on the couch and watch some FIFA Confederations Cup
much love
