Big decision this week.

The Suicide Girls burlesque show at the Knitting Factory tonight or the band Turbonegro at Webster Hall tomorrow night. My real-life sked will not allow indulging in both.

Which to attend?

Each has its advantages.

The girly revue should feature an array of astounding women dealing in risqu behavior while in various stages of undress. Turbonegro, as Ive been informed by...

you said: I couldn't determine from the photos. Is your skin as smooth to the touch as satin or velvet?

awwwww that's a really really sweet comment. one that i really don't know how to answer and if i did answer it would be completely vain of me to do so.

so i'll just say a hearty thank you and one that is very very heartfelt.

thanks.

A cruel summer ended. All my late-season guests have gone home. If things go smoothly, this time next month I will live elsewhere. Of course if things really go right, those responsible for my involuntary move will be mired in circumstances people whove behaved badly should find especially painful.

They will need to answer authority. No jive. No evasion. Nothing clever. Nowhere to hide.

They...

Petulant? Maybe doubting one's own veracity as a superhero. Horrible things are making me feel like somewhat less than one right now.

A weekend in New York was just what I needed to escape my summertime blues. Out of town friends and another from way out of town yanked me beyond the morose valley.

Marianne Ive mentioned before. Former college classmates of mine made us a quintet. Drake and the Cool Chicks, Tatiana and Inez. We attended school out West.

Drakes brush cut has gone completely gray....

Marianne surprised me Thursday. She blocked my office door as I was grinding through paperwork.

Actually she wasnt that big a surprise. Shed alerted me weeks ago about visiting New York to attend the tennis.

Marianne lives in Hamburg. Although her English contains passable enough slang, she holds fast to the German need for placing definite articles before proper nouns.

Bright blue eyes search out...

You must've been a Dusty fan, too...I see your missing a girl...so am I...so is half of SG, I bet! The drawing was done by an artist I used to model for in Japan. He came over the other day and spent the day sketching. For the one posted, I was allowed to take a little nap! wink biggrin

After visiting the doctor (a scheduled check-up), my lawyer (skewed inheritance lines will hinder my inevitable dispossession of what was once our home), and lender (credit check, probable loan, likely mortgage), I saw my fathers girlfriend.

Years ago, I had a premonition about this meeting. Aware of our mortality, I nonetheless did the childish thing and either ignored or dismissed those signs. Seeing them again...

Vargas and his bride Fili have been showing me some new wrinkles recently.

We all sweat buckets at the same gym. Vargas career shares aspects with mine, giving us an immediate bridge over which to bond. Im still not quite sure what Fili does. Other than come across as unapproachably attractive, I mean.

Hes tall. Shes statuesque. Or, hes a giant and shes an Amazon....

I caught wolf-whistles from a carload of girls Wednesday.

Real life was becoming troublesome again, so their out-of-the-blue appraisal was refreshing relief. I dont get many of those. Whistled at by carloads of girls, I mean.

Even when I was young, packed, better looking and more deserving of lustful expressions I never got that reaction. At least not vocally. Much can be said with our...

Unexpected delight last week.

I got a raise. I didnt even have to politick for it. Naturally if I had I either wouldnt have gotten one or it wouldve been given grudgingly.

Several of my co-workers were badgering so hard for their own boosts that there may be managerial repercussions down the line. Meaning for the time being they can forget about normal workday slacking...

Given the grief of fathers death, I naturally sought refuge from gushy relatives and his too emotive cronies. Pavlovian as ever, I drifted into my favorite bar.

What had I hoped finding there? Other than reprieve from mourning, I mean?

Frankly, I hoped as raw and as strong as my feelings bubbled, Stella, my favorite bartender, would finally submit. Better, that the years of moony...

Father died Wednesday the 13th. Steady bursts of relatives and friends have either dropped by or phoned since then. During their condolences they all profess shock and surprise at his sudden demise.

If they really wanted shocks or surprises, they shouldve been with me when I found him. We all arrive kicking and screaming. I suppose the luckiest among us depart quietly.

At least it...

Disregarding Tom Cruises antics and outbursts as well as those movie reviewers who couldnt get their minds around a Spielberg flick with rampaging aliens, we saw War of the Worlds last weekend. Once you get past no cuddly spacemen and no immediate gratuitous uplift, its a fine movie!

First, the obvious. The special effects are great. Theyre not overdone.

Second, Cruises character is an ordinary...

After the Fourth of July what is there? Between Independence and Labor Days stretches summer, a long humid lake of heat. We ought to have another three-day weekend the first week of August. It should be dedicated to cold beer and laziness. The perfect American occasion to celebrate.
