Sorry for the lack of Blog! Lots going on in my life.
I got to go back to Florida and spend time with my lovely daughters, Emma and Ava. They have grown up so much and it is crazy to think Emma turned 15 while I was down there. I got to surprise her for her birthday, she had no clue I was coming. Originally I was supposed to show up at her birthday party and surprise her and all her friends, but my ex wife decided to move the birthday 1 day ahead, even though I had been planning this and had my plane tickets for 2.5 months...she moved the date 1 day forward for no reason. *grumble* But on to the surprise!!!!
So i had been messing with Emma all week about how I was shipping her birthday present and that I hoped it got there on time. So Saturday the 15th, I started texting her and asking if she had gotten her present yet, and of course, she hadn't because it was sitting next to me on the couch. I feigned like I was upset and worried. I then left for the airport and texted her from the airport a few hours later... "still nothing dad. " Hehehe. I'm evil. So then I get on my delayed flight and when I landed, my best friend and her boyfriend were waiting for me. We rushed to baggage and then rushed the hour and a half drive to my ex wife's parent's house where they live. Along the way my ex texted me saying she would try and keep them up. Seriously? I haven't seen them in 6 months and you will "try" and keep them awake. I don't care if she had to shove coffee down their throats, they are staying awake!!! Well as we turned down the street I get the "Where are you, Ava is asleep on the couch and Emma went to bed" text. I responded with 1 minute away and then we pulled in and turned off the car lights. I felt like I was in high school trying to sneak a girl out of her house. I got up the driveway and around the corner from the door and called my ex. Asked her to hand the phone off to Emma. All sleepy and tired "Hey dad..." "Honey, tracking says your package has arrived and I know you guys were out at dinner, can you check the front door again?". The light switches on and I hear the sound of the door opening. "Nothing dad..nothing is there". I stepped around the corner, gift in hand "Are you sure?". BOOM! Emma in a dead sprint covers the 15 feet distance and then leaps on and latches on to me for dear life. Both arms and legs wrapped around and head buried in my shoulder and neck. IT was a beautiful moment. Then we moved on to Ava. I got to lean down in front of her and start rocking her a little. "Ava..... Ava baby, wake up". She stirred and then biggest look of bewilderment hit her face. "Daddy? .... Daddy?..... DADDY!!!!" and she latched on as well and started to cry a little. I have never been so happy in my life. Such a great moment.
Then the night delivered an unexpected surprise. I was out and about with my best friend and her man surprising all our friends at the bar because NO ONE knew I was coming back into town for Christmas. I had to lie and tell everyone I wasn't coming back just so no one ruined the girls' surprise. We were all drinking and laughing and having a good time and that's when SHE walked in. This girl who was friends with my friends, and I had never met came in and first Kat ran over and did the "Oh my god! I haven't seen you in forever" and hugged her.... then LeeAnna (My best friend) "AMY! HI!" and hugged her... and I figured, why the hell not? "OH MY GOD, Its been so long!" and I picked this random stranger up in a big hug and put her back down. Then of course, I was introduced as the bearded crazy Canadian friend that we were all there for. Amy and I chatted abit that night and even flirted. Then the flirting got to naughty and pervy flirting on her end and I was smitten. She could totally keep up with my inappropriate comments and dish them right back. By the end of the night, I hugged her good bye and grabbed her ass (yes...alcohol had a bit of the blame on this). Now Amy and I have been dating for a month now!!! I am extremely smitten and even though we are in two different cities/countries... we are making it work. Honest and open communication and actually acting like adults is a great way to make it work.
So... how is everyone else doing?
