Hummingbirds move faster than I can think, or photograph well. I'm not giving up, but this is as good as it gets this weekend...
I'm trying my hand at nukazuke again- it's a traditional form of Japanese pickling that uses fermenting rice bran. I am doing radishes, and just started on some cabbage. Last batch... a few years back... came to an inglorious end... and never went that well in the first place. This batch is much, much better. I think I got happier bacteria this time. It looks horrible, but it's salty, garlic-y, sour goodness! (Honest... )
Oh, and since every blog needs dashing handsomeness...

Oh that pickling thing is intriguing. I used to make kim chee all the time but haven't in years. I think when I have my own place again it's high on the list!
