i experienced total vegetarianism for almost six months. it was fun while it lasted, but i really wanted some damn fish, so i bought some tilapia filets today. now i've decided that i want to be pescatarian, meaning i will only eat fish. because of the concerns about mercury levels in fish, it'll only be a once a week thing anyway...at the end of the week i can sink my teeth deep into some flesh and get those primal urges out of the way. i'm still not interested in any red meat or poultry. i am eating turkey at thanksgiving next year, however. i do still care about animal rights, where our food comes from, humane treatment of meat animals, etc.

= less mercury, aka
tilapia's a good choice. swordfish bad, generally speaking.
it seems like decent meat is harder to find. i'm not a fan of unloved vegetables, but eating unloved meat makes me feel *unhappy*, in my belly and my mind and, well, you get the picture.
we have this outrageously priced, semilocal/regional organic beef at our coop that is totally worth it, feels good, and no one can afford to eat too much
