As I sit here on a Friday night watching The 80’s: The Decade That Made Us, I’ve had an epiphany. I am basically sprinting towards the latter portion of my 20’s and work takes up most of my time; I can see what my priorities are.
They’re kinda fucked honestly. I spend all my time working. I’m not alone. We all do it. And as I watch this episode of The 80’s, it’s literally all about Wall Street and doing coke. Like, that sounds so much better for a Friday night as opposed to heating up some leftovers Mom gave you to take home and watch some 80’s drug dealer tell me how loaded he is. I am pretty sure he was talking about money, but it’s certainly a double entendre. It WAS before Biggie gave us the ten crack commandments. Who knows.
But even as I’ve seen this happening over the past few years, my life being sleep-work-hockey-sleep, I’ve had the chance to go out. Hockey buddies or friends from town always try to go out on a Friday or Saturday, but for some reason I’d rather just hang at the apartment. Am I...weird? Is this the norm? I do go out, and whenever I do I have a great time with the boys, but it’s just that beer in my apartment is way cheaper and my comfy shorts are not acceptable to wear in public.
On that note, I’m gonna walk over to the fridge and grab another beer. It’s a commercial anyway.
