well, i finally seen the movies all the cool kids say is the greatest, and here's what i had to say...
donnie darko- well, it was nice, there were some good moments, in particularly the end when he takes the girls body to the cliff and is staring out to the wormhole. that was nice, but all in all, i don't see why everyone loves it so. probably because it has some things that "hip" kids enjoy, like disobedience, hoodies, and guys in bunny costumes. it was a decent movie, but i would never watch it again.
adaptation- i really liked the beginning, and the part where he describes the attraction of flowers and the insects. thats really quite lovely, but then it starts to suck with the silly ending. i get how it is referencing all the things kauffman said he didn't want, and how the movie is the screenplay, blah, blah, blah, but i am not too interested in how clever people can be, really. and the inner dialogue he has is fucking annoying. i mean, i hate it when i do it, why do i wanna hear someone else do it too? it was good, well made, and well thought out, but not a great film in my mind.
secretary- well....as much as i hate agreeing with the hipsters, i have to say... i loved this fucking movie. so perfectly done and perfectly acted. spader has been my favorite since pretty in pink (and yes, i saw that movie in the theatres) and he is delicious here. that young maggie chick is so yummy that it makes me ill. my favorite line (i wrote it down) was, "who says love needs to be gentle?" my sentiments exactly! perfect movie and possibly subplants lost in translation as my favorite love story. only because its more realistic for me. lost is like an ideal, but secretary is more my reality.
so there, thats that. i am working on my portfolio now, and its gonna be a long 4 months. but it should be exciting. gabriel will be making some fun new art soon too. haven't done that in a while. no more painting though, i am tired of that, its all about digital video now! video painting rules! fuck you.
