Today I went to a tattoo convention in Philadelphia. And since I had never seen one before, sadly, as a 24 year old punk-rock chick (and aspiring tattoo artist!!!) , it was definitely quite interesting!. It sounds like a hornet's nest as soon as you walk in, with all the needles buzZZZzzZZZzzzin' around you, and old-man-dude sweat fills the air. Yes, our people...
It really got the creative juices flowing, actually. One of my best friends had an appointment by an "okay" guy, but walking around, I couldn't help thinking to myself, DAMN, I would NEVER get about 99.9% of this shit on my body if somebody PAID me. A lot of it was the trendy hipster stuff; the sugar skulls and whatnot, a lot were tribal, some were of eagles, and then you have the cliche' "old school" tattoos with the "mom" and "dad" hearts category (which are cute, yes) and all that jazz.
Guys ran around in sweatshirts, bandanas, and jeans, and most of the girls seemed to divide into two groups: the really thin earthy-hippie girls with the flowy clothing and guaged ears with dreaded or short shaved hair; or the over-the-top ultra pin-up ladies with heels so high that it made my toes cringe. It was definitely, a fascinating sight....
And then it made me wonder back to that oh, so fascinating question: do we REALLY stereotype ourselves this way to NOT be cliche'?.
... and that is why I LOVE SG. 99% of the girls on here do NOT fit that mold in the room, they do what they want and say FUCK OFF, many of us can be found in our rooms, drawing, or playing video games, or giggling with our kitties, or just lounging around in pajamas creating things rather than putting pictures that other people pre thought-of out and brand them to a sexy body piece to label our own creation as a part of our own Self.
I don't want to be a clone!!
Sooo this got the digestive juices glowing, and I decided to doodle my KITTY in less than FIVE minutes, here's what I've got..
!.
MEOWWW!. She makes me happy!.
))))
<<and so do all of you>>
So I now drink my Chamomille Tea and cheers to you, SG. Goodnight
