Thanksgiving weekend in a nutshell....
TG day, mister announced "surprise"...he bought a rail for our desert trip
oddly, this did not tickle me, I love surprises...however, purchasing sandrail is more a "shocker" than a surprise
Dinner turned out yummy, leftovers were tasty too. I have my share of talents and not talents, thankfully for those in my life, cooking is one of my talents. I'm a damn good cook and I rarely measure my ingredients..,I'm a pinch cook.
Ocotillo wells was sandy and WINDY as all hell. I am utterly beat, the kid and mister are beat...even the dog is layi ng quietly at the back door...wind and sand and grim anddust tend to whoop the daylights outta ya. sleep is tough when the wind is howling and the awnings are flapping, chairs are tumbling and everyone is walking about camp in goggles...even when NOT on dirtbikes/ATC's and sandrails. Golf cart involved in mishap, no one hurt this weekend and we all had a PUNGENT drive home...even last nights dribble of a shower could not penetrate the layers of dirt, sand and grime the 3, make that 4 if you count the dog, we all had caked on us.
The drive home through Julian was beautiful and we encountered an awe inspiring lack of traffic on the way home..
It's almost 6 pm. We are showered, fed and getting ready to read a g'night story to the wee one and we're off to bed. If we aren't totally spent, perhaps a bit o love before we crash will be in order...
I'd say even with blowing, crusty sand in the equation...it's damn near a perfect weekend.
bikes, turkey, kids, burned discs of music for a lifetime, teenagers, dog, sand, friends, firepit, golf carts, trailers, hot coffee, pie, cameras, coffee, no traffic, warm showers, early sleepy holiday weekend nights.
yup... perfect weekends.
I'm a sap...sue me.
hope all of your wekends were as grand as mine...
