For all who have asked what Dead Artist Syndrome sounds like you can hear a few tunes here
:Dead Artist Syndrome
I have been getting swamped with e-mails since we got on SG so here are the answers to what seems to be the top questions of late..... Oh thanks for asking BTW
Q. Is Dead Artist Syndrome a Christian Band? Why do Some of your songs mention God or Jesus?
A. Dead Artist Syndrome is not a christian band, just a band, because of my personal faith we do have a fairly large audience in the christian market and have had our albums distributed there as well as the general music market for years. But, frankly we really have never fit in to the right wing Jesus is the great white out check your brain at the door mindset that is embrace by a lot of people in that sub-culture and would most likely be considered Profane Saints at best. As for mentioning God in some of the songs I write I revert to the answer of Jewish Buddhist Leonard Cohen when he was asked the same thing: "Who would want to avoid Jesus?" I believe in God's grace and mercy for all, so that world view will of course work it's way into my song writing now and again like any other subject might such as love, sex, death or politics. That said mentioning God is personal for me and is not for the utilitarian purpose of evangelizing or converting the masses. I do however encourage people to ask themselves to search for spiritual truth in all they do.
Q. How come you have so many fans in the BDSM/Fetish/Gay, (insert subculture here) crowd?
A. We are a Goth band after all and those people are in that subculture as well. I believe people are people and simply want them to enjoy what we do as a band like any artist would. What can I say, we are an offbeat band and we attract a lot of offbeat people from all walks of life. We play music for everybody who wants to listen and I don't care what they are into, in the big picture we are just another band, nothing more nothing less.
Q. Is it True Brian Healy use to double for the late John Candy in movies? Wasn't he once really, really fat?
A. Yes, I worked on several films with John as well as having my own acting career in film, TV and commercials and am a member of the Screen Actors Guild. As for once being fat that is also true, at one point I did weigh close to 500 lb., I am down to 240 lb's or as a friend has said "dude you've lost two Backstreet boys.
Q. Is Dead Artist Syndrome going to ever play where I live? How come you are from Southern California but rarely played there?
A. DAS plays wherever and whenever we are asked. We have taken several breaks from live shows in our history but, we are now gearing up to do as many shows as we can. I avoided playing my own home area because I really separated my music from my acting and other artistic exploits that were LA based, That has now changed and we will be doing local L.A. gig's starting in December 2004 if you want to book us just drop an e-mail to the contact link.
Q. What new records are in the works?
A.We are currently preparing a retrospective album called Greatest Hurts and are currently recording an all new album called
Kissing Strangers both are set for release in early 2005. We also are working on a third album but it's a secret project we will tell you about in the future.
