ok. so i've been working on my own as a carer since saturday now. it's good work. all my clients are friendly. a few are a bit quiet and it's a case of going in and doing what you need to do. but on the whole it's ok. the only problem is the office . there taking use carer's for a ride sometimes. i have to work 12 days on, 2 days off. but, this weekend was ment to be my weekend off. and of course they rang up going can i work the whole weekend. but when i go, "i can't really, i'm going out, they're like, oh please, we really need you to work this weekend and make us feel really guilty. so of course, i gave in to sunday evenings . ok it's more money, but i would like some time to myself. i mean like, sunday, i worked from 7 in the morning till 12 lunch time. then 5 till 9.30 at night. so i'm not getting much time to myself for going out cause when i got home i just went striaght to bed. the worst bit is, i live 15-20 miles away from the area i'm working in, so it's costing me ALOT in petrol. i used to spend 10 a week for petrol (i have a 1.4 diesel so it's cheap on fuel compared to most cars). but i've spent 25 already since saturday morning. which is alot. on average, the other carers say they do about 300 miles a week. and they live in that town. for me, i have to travel 15-20 miles to get there, and the same to get home again. plus, some days are split into 2, so i have to make the journey twice. that's alot of milage per week. in fact i'll be doing about 20000 miles a year nearly just for work . the company is also messing up alot with the rota's. for me yesterday, they had me at 1 place from 17.00 to 18.30. but my next client was 18.00 to 18.30 . so somehow i'm ment to do 2 calls at the same time. so i don't know if i'm going to stick with this company.
but i still want to be a carer. but i think i'll look at other companies. or move down to my grandads in mousehole (next to penzance in cornwall). i can look after him then as he wants someone to look after him. plus i can try doing carer work there or something. but who knows. i don't . hehe.
