Made it home from a 34 hr shift on a fire, it doesn't help that our division chief forgot we were out there all night and thought we slept. Then had us sleep in a 110* campground while all other crews that worked overnight slept in hotels. This changes my opinion on fires that all personel and equipment on big wildfires should be federal agency and not cooperators. Local fire departments are more expensive, aren't trained as thoroughly as we are, and do not know how the federal system works as far as paperwork and regulations go. More often the line of duty deaths and injuries are non federal firefighters as well, so there's a safety issue too.

Our fire trucks are real, and red.
