Ok I just got home(after a 10 hour fucking drive....) from my first tattoo convention. It was the PTAA Annual Tattoo Convention, this year it was held in Tweed Heads. Now this convention is pretty tiny compared to the conventions some of you are used to overseas, but it is all we got. It was cool, we were lucky enough to get a booth(though we are not members of the PTAA) . We also got a rad position as we were next to(and with, after we removed the dividing wall) the crew from Front Yard Tattoo, awesome guys and great artists, aswell as Canadian artist Anthony Orsatti, this dudes work was mind blowing, yet he worked faster than any tattoo artist I have ever seen. It was a good boost for our shop, we meet some cool artists and made some good contacts, aswell as a chance to get our work out there to a broader section of the tattoo community. There were good and bad points about the convention but overall it was a positive experiance and I am sure we will go back next year. Ummm apart from the work side of things it was an awsome 5 days away, didn't see a whole lot due to work hours, though did throw 9 cartons of eegs at people/places/cars, did get STR logos on two fairly well known tourist attractions(and after 5 days they are all still there), did get drunk (atleast) once.
