Ode to Moxy Frvous.
That band made me happy for oh so long.
And now they are gone. They broke up years ago, and I still have all their albums, but nothing in the world can ever be like seeing Frvous live. I saw them a total of 18 times. That's all.
The other day I was riding the train, listening to my mp3 jukebox on shuffle, and a Moxy song came up. Instantly I was in a Jian Fantasy Flashback. For years I had a severe crush on this man:
In my little fantasy on the train, I was rubbin all up ons the man. That's about it... I don't have sex fantasies so much as physical contact fantasies. Rubbin up on like humping. Yes, I'm rather horny lately so I kinda need these rubbin-on-people fantasies. Back when the band was touring, I often got to say hi to him and give him a Goob hug (which you know is kinda like rubbin-on) and get a little thrill from that.
Oh, you never heard of Moxy Frvous? Well, there's a website but I prefer the fan site fruhead.com. I was a member of that club for a while... it was my first online community, long before SG. That original Goob profile is still intact, with pictures and music recommendations from long ago. Even cooler, they've kept archives of the "Power Wall" and you can read old, old chat conversations that I had in back in 2000, 2001. here is an example. I'm Goob-A-Rama talking about the penis I keep in Manayunk. (his name was Tim. haha!) I used to change my name all the time on the site, and from the comments made that day I think I was probably listed as The Naked Goob. Ahhh... memories! I searched the archives and I have found that I was active there from Dec 5, 1999 until October 2001... then I signed on a couple times until January 2002, once in april 2002... once in oct 2002... and a final post in feb 2002. See, the band broke up and the fan site got a whole lot less active. I can't even sign in with my old account now, cuz I no longer have the same email address so I can't request a password reminder. So i created a new account last year and signed in, and some of the same crazy kids were chatting that remembered me from years before!
So recently I saw Great Big Sea perform at the Keswick. And to my surprise, I recognized the mystery 4th band member! Murray from Frvous was off on the left with his bass, just where he belongs.
I always used to be one of Murray's people... that or Stage Jian. Even now, as a throwback to my Moxy days, I prefer the left side at any show ever.
Ahhh... I need to go. I don't have any plans for this evening. I think I'm gonna take it easy, just hang out here. Unless someone has a better idea?
