Ok, so it wasn't as bad as I thought. I think the worst of it is over. I resolved my Monday class paper issue (doing an annotated bibliography instead of a paper), I got to the library to pick up books for the paper due Wednesday, and I've caught up with reading for my morning class. Then I got my first day of server training out of the way, which ended much before I expected.
I like the employees there even less now, except the bar staff. Funny how that happens. Me and another girl were the only ones training- the other dude never showed, so this girl is already a hostess but training to be a server. She's 19 and she's all the things I hate about teenagers. Did you know I have a really bad anti-teen bias? I'm talking about those 18-20 yr olds who think they own the fucking world... dirty and crude and catty and so full of drama it makes me
Not to mention a shitty work ethic and an irresponsible attitude. (not saying ALL teens are like this... but dammit, too many of them are.)
Um... ok back to topic. We reviewed menu items, watched a stupid video, got to eat some overcooked food (still not too bad though) but the best part was the beverage training. We went over the specialty drinks and got to taste test some. (yes, and you should have seen the young girl knock back those drinks like she was at a frat party) The best part of the night was seeing the drink prices... and realizing that it's easy to make a killing on beverage upsells alone.
I also learned there's not much chance I'll be bartending there... at least not soon. There's a List. and I'm new. But it looks like I can make decent money as a server, so I'm gonna stick it out for a while and see if maybe later I can make it to bartender. I think I'm more qualified than a lot of other people on the "list"
So now I gotta go do some reading and note-taking for that paper due wednesday. The prof emailed me that I could turn it in any day this week, so I might wait til Thursday to actually take it in, but I want to get a good start on it now.
I burp and it tastes like capers and mixed italian cheeses.
