I recall with great fondness and some embarrassment my first wonderful encounter with sushi; it was on a romantic rendezvous with a rather wonderful Tri Delt (henceforth for anonymity sake I shall refer to as "Anne") on one perfect fall evening and at the suggestion of my soon to be dinner companion, my love for sushi began at Piranha Killer Sushi located in Arlington. I agreed to the suggestion with some apprehension for many of the "I was made violently ill by a bad piece of sushi" anecdotes I had heard over the years by friends and friends of a friend still rang loudly in my mind, however in order to protect my machismo fed pride and a need to impress my rather nubile date, I beat back these thoughts with resolute alacrity. Upon being led to our table and subsequent menus presentation, I set my eyes upon the colorful and stylized Japanese font list of maki, sashimi and nigiri, though at the time these names were quite foreign to me still. Sensing my puerile trepidation and ignorance, "Anne" suggested a California Roll, to which I gladly acquiesced. She however did not possess the same prejudices and anxiety that I had had, as I'm sure this was not her first experience with sushi for she ordered the Sushi and Sashimi dinner (a rather expensive choice at nearly $25 I might add) which contained salmon, yellow tail, and other delectable treats from the sea. to be continued .....
