Ahhh, Mastering Season if officially over. I think has been one of the most challenging so far. Good stuff coming out I can say. But getting paid for it is the biggie. Just hunkering down for the day job the rest of the year and trying to get away the 1st week of January. Just me alone. Ahhh.
I also got to call out a little douche last night who has been talking a lot of shit about other people in the colorado mastering communtiy. He planted a little bug in people's ears asking, what am i doing here because I have done some big shit and should not be here in co. I told him and his obnoxious drunk wife to just shut the fuck up. It felt really good and was in front of 15 or so people. I told his wife to shut the fuck up at shows too, it was just obnoxious and grow the fuck up. As a disclaimer I do not usually fall prey to petty shit but when he starts it about my friends too as a route to attract business that it is pretty underhanded. Plus his stuff sounds like shit.
Yeah maybe I have done some big shit, big whoop. Folks outside of the microcosm of colorado like it. I get business and my work speaks for itself. Nuff Said.
Why am I here? I like the west, I hate LA, I hate Nashville, Austin has a lot of ghosts for me, but may be an option. Denver used to be a city with a great music scene. It has fallen off quite a bit. Locally I offered musicians pretty much the best deal they could find. I want to help them get out there. Sound good. I am also a musician and can fill in where things lack. Yes I do play Blues. But I love that and Denver is seriously lacking in that dept. Yes and I do support local acts by seeing them. I am not in some ivory tower.
All arrows point to the NW again. But that is a big choice. The mastering market is over saturated. Day Jobs suck until I can get up and running. So that corner is painted in.
So I am going to hunker down and write a book with a buddy and explore some photography stuff while silently talking to a music savvy marketing person. Develop a strategy and come back loaded for bear.
Yehoo.
