Whew finally getting settled in, the housing search has been a bear. So we are renting a condo for a few months. Anybody know of a good neighborhood in austin with artists, musicians, general funkiness? I am asking all over and have some good leads.....
On a whim we looked at a few places out in the hill country where some musicians congregate and we were greeted by some big haired horse toothed real estate mega sales queen.........If I hear Y'all will love it one more time I may die. Found one place, way overpriced.......did not have time for all the land.......
Nice ride but a bit too far out for us, I think for now it is in town, close to work. Which has been coming in suprisingly despite the slow season. Also with SXSW coming up I can actually give studio tours, and not have to run amok amongst the record boobs. I have to do some but not all week. I can actually focus on what I want to do vs what I need to do to have a viable business here......
So Far it is........
Plug In Development
Tube Amp Refurbishing
Occasional harp Mic Builds
Mastering
Recording
I even have found a few bands to blow some harp with, which is a nice escape from being stuck in a workshop studio all the time.....and the travel is cut down by 50% at least. Which I love. Nice being 10 minutes away and not 3 hours......
And it is nice not being in Boulder, man I hate that place.......I dont miss the sporties in thier subarus and bike racks one bit. Yep I do ride a bike, a beach cruiser.....Dont listen to hippy music, dont have some mystical new age vegan religion, I like steak and taters and being agnostic, not ultra liberal, some things I honestly do not like, feels good to say that and have folks agree and not try to drag me into some political argument........and not much cold weather.....Used to love it and now it can suck a dick......Some good folks there but the rest can seriously blow me........I think it was the pot honestly.......that was it......
So my jamaica trip is on for april, one last session.......may be the most epic yet.......lots of old 7" ave popped up since last year and lots to do mon....
Bout it here from funkytown...........

My best friend and her husband lived in the barrio section of Austin for three years. They said it was the friendliest, most laid-back place they've ever lived. (And they're in Portland, OR now, so that's saying something!)
They're so bohemian that even their cat is black, and they loved it.
Oh, and the pot...sheesh, it's great!
mostly kinda expensive but central to everything great (downtown, SOCO, barton springs/zilker park/ alamo drafthouse south, etc) plus tons of local coffee houses, shopping, outdoor music venues up and down south first ave. plus lots of trees, great houses, neighborhood groceries, etc.
erm, sorry. i'm gushing about my old stompin' grounds. you could say i'm a bit homesick.
have you joined the SGAustin group? go ask those guys.
good luck. if you have any questions about the big ATX -or the hill country- let me know.
