"Here is the guy that will make your bands sound like Crazy Horse"
That was the info given out on me at a booking party tonight.....to some slimy a and r rep from LA. I come here to avoid them. They slither when they wake up crawl on their golden amex card laden bellies....thier drinks are attached with a poison.....you may have to talk to them...
At least for a minute.....
They are oxygen thieves looking for the new flash in the pan......
Its odd here all the good bands are playing early.....leaving way for those on the shining path....honestly most are dull....they paid the fee to play here......thats about it......most of the hot bands dont need to advertise........they are just here and if you can get into the shows great.....if not you'll see em again.......
I never heard from Hunters band but if she is here please message me here on the site, I would love to see something different than I mix and master.
Most have been relegated to early sets, so I am free until its time to go and record......Sat and Sunday will be at Willie Nelson's Studio.
Outside of seeing Lucero, the rest is a write off, unlike last year with me chasing girls and labels for Mastering deals, now that the studio is up and running that I can now have a bit of a rest and the work reperesents itself.......I am now the "Crazy Horse" guy. Their big roomy sound I figured out in a studio in Denver...
Maybe it is the reefer that is making me babble, or the bottle of paddy whiskey that was inhaled at the hole in the wall earlier.....I was the guy in the ireland track jacket with the backpack full of paddy and a glad lock top bowl of mexican lettuce.........we all left starry eyed singing "Dirty Old Town" by the Pouges.
We were attacked by 3 different street teams........those loyal fans that travel 2000 miles to get a whiff of a roadies t-shirt for bothering somebody or nobody to go and see "the best punk band since Green Day".
I called some "Vulture Fleas" a rabies infected lot of bloodsuckers that resides in the lower part of South East Asia. Entertaining that it is something lower than an A&R Rep with a Gold Card.
This is my last year here, I have been doing sound, producing and mastering bands I have found here since 1996, from the cancer that has infected this place, I hearby announce my leaving, how emo is that......
Not alot of good talent, just a pure basting of crap. If you can imagine 10k bands singng the same thing by 4 different producers, welcome to the digital age.
I hope Hunters band does well and gets lots of the bright lights........Tomorrow the good ones play.......
Go and See any bands on Undertow, Bloodshot, Hellcat wherever they may flow, critics howl and bitch about the new sound. Really it is the same old sound done better but by the artists on those labels.
One of Colorado's own "Drag The River" made a damn good choice not coming down here.......
Yes i am a huge fan.......Besides Lucero, Milton Mapes, Amy Stolzenbach, Ethyl and The Regulars I really think they are one of the best band out there....
Off to take up the twangfest folks on some of the free beers they offered.....
Charge On.......
