POLICY - "20 Minutes" presents the main headliners of the future election ...
Difficult to get rid of a nickname that sticks to the skin. For many and probably much longer, Martine Aubry is "the lady of 35 hours." Yet the political life of the mayor of Lille, First Secretary of his party, can not be reduced to that law flagship of the Jospin government.
Born in 1950, Martine Aubry is first a daughter of Jacques Delors, the Socialist Minister of Finance during the first seven of Franois Mitterrand, then President of the European Commission from 1985 to 1995. An independent man who gave up the presidency in 1995 despite polls which predicted a royal way. But Martine Delors has also drawn its own destiny. With the ENA (promotion Blum, 1975), she became a director in the Ministry of Labour (already) before being spotted by President Mitterrand and integrate firms Auroux Jean and Pierre Beregovoy. Aubry, pure product of the Public Service? Not only. Between 1989 and 1991 she worked for Pechiney and becomes the right hand of the businessman Jean Gandois remains a close and was head of the CNPF (employers' association, MEDEF former) in the 1990s.
Specialty: Minister of Labour
Martine Aubry is from 1991 and his appointment to the Ministry of Labour in the government of Edith Cresson, one of the most important people of the left. It is extended to the post in the government until March 1993 Pierre Beregovoy before becoming a spokesman for the presidential campaign of Lionel Jospin in 1995. Elected MP in the North in 1997, she finds herself propelled Minister of State for Employment and Solidarity, Number 2 of the Government of cohabitation. It passed laws important: 35 hours, youth employment, universal health coverage ... What it attracts the hatred of the line spread on it. "Psychorigid", "brittle," "dogmatic" ... Opinions qualified by its employees who are "perfectionist", "effective" and loving listening to the views of others.
The good city of Lille
Aubry is blind and built a strong local government after his resignation in 2000. First Deputy Pierre Mauroy, she was elected mayor of Lille in 2001 but failed in the legislative elections of 2002, wiping a few tears on camera. Trauma that turns into resentment against Franois Hollande, first secretary of the PS, she accuses him of having booked a riding complex. Liaising with the complicated Parisian press, Aubry de Lille is his refuge. "Policies are not outside the media world. To talk about yourself, you often criticize his own party when you have nothing more to say, "she says to" 20 Minutes "tired of sound bites.
In 2008, Congress of Reims she became the first secretary of the PS by a short head in front of Sgolne Royal (one hundred votes). The party out of this bloodless battle and Aubry puts his team at work while criticizing his predecessor, Holland ("When I arrived in Solferino, even the toilet leaked"). After a long reflection and the arrest of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, she embarked on the battle of the primaries June 28, 2011.
