had a kick ass weekend, will updated later...
RIP Big Baby Jesus
update as promised:
I'v been itching to go back to the keys and do a little fishing with my brother, so Saturday at 5am we were on our way down to Long Key. 2 hours later and with the sun barely over the horizon we set our lines out, it looked promising as the day was going to be beautifull.
Not much happened early on, a couple of small fish here and there. Then I spot a school of Spanish Mackerels and go at it, it was a blast as fish after fish hit the deck. In the middle of the meele I get the bright idea of sending back one of the Macs on the shark rod as bait, 15 minutes later it almost gets yanked from my hands and the fight was on! It took close to an hour to get the shark near us, turned out to be a Bull Shark that was right around 300 lbs
. I let her live to fight another day
It was now close to noon and the sun was getting HOT, so we decide to head a little north to a secluded spot where theres plenty of shade and shallow water to relax in. As expected the spot was deserted and we set up camp (sort of, it was just a hammock and portable grill). As the grill was heating up I go out for a swim but find something odd around the rocks, LOBSTERS! everywhere. I didn't have any of my gear so this was going to be tough (and painfull) but I did find a pair of gloves. It was tricky but I was able to get 3 big ones for the grill, no need to take more since we just wanted a bite to hold us up untill we got back home later that night. Great weekend out there, need to go back more often...
If you can't tell by now, I like fish both for sport and pets. Some people like cats, some dogs, some ferrets, I like fish. Less stinki, messy and I don't have to take them out to poop
. I keep a 90 gallon reef tank at my house (you can see pics in my folder) with a shitload of corals and fish from the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean. I also keep a nano-reef in my office desk, it keeps me sane. And I just recently scored a 125 gallon tank that I will setup with amazon species, this will also be at my house. Does that make me a crazy obsseses waco?
This is what I will keep in it
Arowana (not sure how many yet)
Peacock bass (2 or 3)
I think thats it for now...
oh yeah, haven't done a fortune cookie in a while, so here you go:
