Well I have not been on for a bit because of travel and work and travel and vacations. I could not access SG for a long time until I tried logging on by Google Chrome. Tada! It works. After a couple of months I am still not used to the new layout but life is change of course so I plod along. My work travel has taken me to PA (well that is home) DE, MD, VA, WV and the DC. Personal travel has taken me to PA, NJ, NY and Ohio. Specifically Cleveland, Ohio and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Talk about awesome and incredible!! It is at least an all day exploration. BTW the restaurant sorta sucks. Among all the heroes of Rock and Roll and the incredible history of the roots of R&R there are other wildly interesting areas such as the evolution of amplification and instrumentation. The evolution of the electric guitar was absolutely fascinating. I could have spent a day there alone. Outside was the Johnny Cash Tour bus outfitted with a bathroom and a kitchen, No beds though as it was built just to go between hotels on the tour. Better than the back of a car. The feature at the R&R HoF was the Rolling Stones. Enormous displays and memorabilia. The historians of the HoF are very studious and you can tell they are so very knowledgeable about the passion of their lives and they approach it very academically. I have to go back. after seven hours there is still much to linger over. They also have a room that has a continuous spool of Hall acceptances speeches. It was funny how Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck both mentioned each over in less than loving terms. But he best acceptance speech was Bruce Springsteens. Heartfelt and poetic.
After The Hall we found this little lighthouse on the Lake that was a trove of historic memorabilia and information. A true treasure.
In Akron, Ohio we went to a mansion, which at the time is was built, early last century was the 11th largest home in the USA. Even has an indoor pool downstairs. We sent there for a very interesting and fun evening of murder mystery. It was really cool.
The next stop was Canton, Ohio. Might as well complete the vacation the way it started with a Hall of Fame, The Pro-Football Hall of Fame. Even a so-so fan can find a lot to like in this place. If for nothing else, the history, the personal stories, the sacrifices, the evolution of the game.
It was a very good vacation!
