So, I had a kick ass time in Montreal, and made a few more metalhead friends while I was there. I checked in to the "hostel" on Friday, which was really McGill University's dorms. I stayed in the Molson building, and met quite a few people in the lounge on the main floor. We decided to go out together on Friday, and as I knew a bit about Montreal, I suggested Foufonnes Electroniques.
Great bar, great atmosphere, zero issues with the music.
On the way back from Foufonnes, I got a group of four of us a little lost since we walked waaaaaaaaaaay past Rue University because I wasn't paying attention. The other three were looking at me like I had three heads as I led them down one street for about a block, then up the next for a block, yada yada yada... I was avoiding going straight up the hill on University, but the stairs that we wound up having to take was far worse than the hill. We got back to the dorms at 330. We left the bar at 1. Just a little lost and a little too far out of our way. Whoops.
FIRST day of the festival. Woke up too early, partly due to the fact that the dorms are a sauna. Everyone met up again down at 9am, as we had arranged on Friday, but a few were late, so we waited till 10 before we decided to just leave them behind. What yours truly was wearing on that first day of heat and metal (Note the clean boots):
So I kind of led the way down the hill, and the Canadians in the group introduced the Americans to Tim Hortons coffee. I had to get my fix. Got on the Metro and tried to not lose anyone at the main transfer station getting onto the train to the Parc Jean-Drapeau where the festival was happening. Wound up that 4 guys didn't make it, but they got the next one and they met up with us on the island as we waited for them in the station. Ran into the reason why I originally had wanted to go later in the day to the festival, aka the humongous line to get in. Glad I went early, because Monster Truck (pic below) was great.
This plane was flying around all day both days with either this pennant or another one advertising Amnesia Rockfest next year!

The sign enough?
I was second row, but this is still zoomed in:

Got someone to take this pic:

Dropkick Murphys on stage:
He was on the runout and was pretty close, but I think I still zoomed in a bit.
Nekrogoblikon:
Not zoomed in at all, but that's Metallica. By Request tour, and they stayed faithful to what the fans wanted to hear:

Sanitarium:
Can't remember what was going on here:
The walk back to the residence on Saturday was awkward. I was walking like John Wayne because of some chafing that the kilt had caused throughout the day. Stay tuned, I'll get Sunday up soon-ish.
