Off to the east coast for a long weekend to visit family. It will be good, and hopefully healing, to be out of this city for awhile.
Tough breakup. A year is a long time to share your life with someone, and it takes more than a few days to get over.
Kierkegaard wrote, "Life must lived forwards, but can only be understood backwards." I don't think, however, he mentioned how we tend, often, to impose our own meanings on our experiences, how we tend to tell ourselves meanings to make us feel better about ourselves. That is, I'm really trying not to whittle down this breakup into a "man, what-a-fucking-bitch-she-is" type of response, nor even the banalities like "man, I'll-be-better-off-without-her" or "everything-happens-for-a-reason."
