so on saturday night i went to the most ridiculous party
and ridiculous is really the only word to describe it all.
it was the surfers environmental aliance whaite water foundation party to raise money for autism. excellent charity with money going to surfers healing, s.e.a., and other autism foundations. this was associated with the 28 mile paddle around manhatten two days later. sea paddle nyc check it out, bra
i actually got to go so i could cook an appitizer for the real guests- which they loved, of course, so yey for ed on that one. fish tacos for everyone.
but anyway. to start it all off i show up to this amazing beachside house. i cannot even fathom living on a nice break right outside my door. you walk out the back door and there is a large patio (and i mean this held this 200+ person event very nicely -big) then there is a sea walll and your beach at the bottom of it. ah, to have money, sigh. so i get there and realize i have nothing to do for a while and my boss goes out to catch a few waves while i chill and sun on the rocks. so derrick doerner (ok, legend big wave surfer. think of point break when bhodie goes out for one more wave and never comes back, yes? thats derrick actually doing the surfing) so he comes over and tells me 'yeah, you have the right idea'. that was the begining of a nice connection with him. later on when i was flipping tortillias looking at a freaking fence he tells me to move my burners out to the sea wall for a better view. "break the rules, man, break the rules." he was right, though. good idea.
so enough about the cooking part.... lets move on to the actual party. i shall start by saying there was a top shelf open bar, ahhh weeee! before im even finished cooking my boss is walking up with pink drinks. now, really, i have no idea why he was drinking pink drinks. i called him out on it and he says it was a pink drink kind of night. his wife told me later that he likes pink drinks a lot and drinks them often. alright then. it went with his all white outfit. the theme of the night was white attire to go with the white water foundation. so you have women looking pretty normal and then a large bunch of guys looking like columbian drug lords in button down white shirts, baggy white pants and sandals - priceless. but really, i am completely not a all white type of girl. looked nice with my tan but didnt/couldnt last too long without getting some sort of stain. i mean really people, lets look at this carefully- me, open bar, heels, white dress. recipe for bad things. really i was pretty impressed about coming home with only one little slightly off color stain, which may have been beer from someone else anyway.
to sum the entire ridiculous night up: i spent hours rubbing elbows with some jersey elite, richie riches, throphy wives and cougars on the prowl. derrick doerner found time to talk to me and gave me a nice fat kiss on the lips at the end of the night after asking me to paddle out with him in the morning. freaking mr. pipeline was there. amazing. i drank the best alcohol, from patron to bombay, all night long. got a sweet bag full of vip extras and met some of the most chill people and surfers i have in a long time. the reggae was some of the best i have heard live. the afternoon was exceptional complete with head high plus surf and the night just exceeded that in every way. i cant wait for the pictures. i cant even put most of what happen down in words... but it was the best party i have been to in a very, very, long time.... and was to help for a wonderful charity. three days later my boss and i were still talking and wonering about it all.
