Ok, so I knew the Epoxies were cool from the moment I first saw their web site and heard 30-second clips of their tunes, but I saw them Friday night here in DC, and I have to say, they kick ass! Now I have even more reasons to be jealous of all the folks in Portland... not only is SGHQ local, but so are The Epoxies.
The show was at an art gallery space, Signal 66, which I'd never even heard of before, even though it is only 4 blocks from my house. The crowd was pretty mixed and interesting, and the whole show had a definite underground feel to it, something I'd been missing since moving to DC, where the scene is just so big that even small bands can have a big following.
I think Roxy Epoxy is my new personal hero, and she's just so damn cute... and the guys aren't so hard on the eyes either!
So if they are coming to your town, go see the Epoxies! Every date on their tour seems to be on the SG calendar here, so you have no excuse!
