so i was in shop rite last night with nick. he was stocking up on ramen and i was looking for ranch dressing. meanwhile there was an old man whizzing (okay, this is a slight exaggeration for he was moving rather slow) down the aisle in his little scooter. he stopped where i was standing and looked at me. he asked me if my tattoos were real. but he said it with no negative connotation whatsoever, so i thought nothing of it. but when i went on to tell him that they were real, he of course went on with his rant asking me how i could do that to myself, why, i was such a pretty girl, etc. etc. yes, i am ruined for life.
he even brought nick into it.
but what i am getting at here is how much this hurts my feelings. yes this has happened before. and yes, it's been more brutal than this particular incident (once i was brought to tears). and usually it's older people. but it's unnecessary. stop me if you want to appreciate my tattoos. (actually, i take that back.) don't stop me if you want to tear me to shreds.
and would he have even noticed them if i wasn't a female?
luckily i wasn't wearing my lip ring, just the retainer, or we might still be there.
sigh.

As an aside, why did you stand there and listen to him? Just walk away, I'm pretty sure you can outrun the scooter. We all know views like this are not very open minded at best, but people like that do exist, and sometimes, the best thing to do is just ignore them.
And you know what? Happy birthday old lady.
