Due to a couple of requests, winks and friendly nudges I have returned! Ill have to have a look around to see whats changed and to look at all the pretty pictures as soon as I can.
There's been a few changes in the past year. I bought a flat which I love. It'll be the one year anniversary in a couple of weeks. I quit my previous job back in December last year and then I had two and a half months off. Don't ask me how I managed to do that with a mortgage. It was very relaxing sleeping into three o'clock in the arvy most days though.
After that I worked for a web design company from March until July where I put myself in a position where I was asked to leave. It was a dire situation and I had to get the hell outta the place. The job was unrewarding, there was zero creativity and so was depressing as hell. Really was not enjoying it and it was affecting my life quite negatively. I started a new job one week after that and have been there since. Its at a small construction based company in East Brisbane and involves desktop application development. I prefer web development as there's usually more of a visual element involved but its still rewarding and sometimes fun.
Life is looking up. I got an email from a US based recruitment agency about a week and a half ago saying that Microsoft was interested. I typed up a 1000 word reply to a bunch of questions and am now just waiting to see if I get any feedback. There may be nothing there but still, huge ego boost!
One of the main reason I've decided to jump back on the SG bandwagon is the actual writing element. I think that jotting down my thoughts on a regular basis is a very healthy thing for me to pursue and maintain. Im also actively pursuing other interests such as graphic design, traditional and digital art and film, but I think writing specifically will keep me sane.
Therefore, unashamedly, here's something I wrote. Its about a vampire with amnesia, but you wouldn't guess it. It may blossom into something much larger.
