I am unhappy.
Among many of my computer friends Ubuntu has been getting a lot of praise. I wasn't that impressed when it wouldn't install on my laptop, but because I'm so forgiving I tried installing it on my desktop.
Big mistake, apparantly. I guess you can only write a boot sector so many times or something, because I can no longer run Windows off it. All my files are there, but I can't get at them except in recovery mode (running off a cd).
Now, you might say "but why not just use linux? You installed it on the computer after all..." which brings me to the great irony. This fabulous linux version lost my mouse, froze no fewer than 5 times (I had to do all sorts of geeky stuff to free it up each time) and lost my internet all in the process of 6 boots, or about 3 hours.
So currently I can either stare at a blank screen (my windows install) or I can stare at a broken operating system (ubuntu).
Not amused... especially since installing Windows XP on a new partition didn't fix it either.
Oh; to any geeks out there I've used the fixboot, fixmbr and bootcfg utils already.

Ubuntu is voodoo. Sure, it's built of Debian...but you know what? The trouble it's given me, makes it uncomparable to Debian.

mr_dave is my bf dave grelli, in case you missed that. I seem to recall seeing the beginning of some conversation between the two of you on his screen. he was probably about to try to help you with this issue, since I think that was around the day you posted this.
