So then... I went down to Calgary to help a friend move for a change of pace.
It definately was. I didn't get to see any of you Calgary peeps... for that I am sorry but it was a weird weekend.
Jackass:

Friday night was a trip to Jackass 2 with a mickey of "the spirit of Austria" tucked in my sock. The movie was great, the after-party watching of dawn of the dead was cool... both enjoyable because Jackass 2 is the sort of movie you can laugh as loud as you want and nobody gives you shit. It's not exactly a text-heavy work and for that I am greatful.
Every conference needs a nude midget to walk across the room at least once. I hope training at Dell today can deliver.
Why I need to go to bed by 2am and definately before 4:30am when I have a big day ahead:

I really need to pay more attention to the 2am rule I used to have... way back when (4 years?) when I went to parties I would always try and be home by 2am. I, much like a fancy dress on fair Cinderella, become far less attractive after that point and yet I keep on thinking this once the bomb won't drop. Oh well, this time no damage was done except to my wallet.
Am I the only person who wonders why Cinderella's shoe, bound by the same magic, remained intact while everything else returned to its previous state? Was only those things which were in contact with her (and the carriage, I guess?) affected? If she had in fact got busy with the prince would the dress, safely on the floor, survived the transformations? Is the moral "get naked and you will get to keep your nice things?" I digress.
Anyhow, what I am getting at is I was up until 4:30 in the morning and then up again at 8:30 in a continued haze of emo only to be broken with an ovation (if I remember correctly) because my entrance to choir sectionals was, apparantly, timely. It was also funny as hell because I make more jokes when I'm stressed but it is morning. Also, my "breakfast" was a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch complimented with a Lime Coke. Can you say sugar/caffeine rush?
Moving a friend
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Once I got to Calgary we spent the eve loading up the vehicle... fools that we are hoping we'd get away early. We did... left at 8:30 (thus removing possibility of seeing people prior to leaving by my measure) and after a loading stop in Red Deer arrived in Edmonton around 2:30.
At that point I got a call on my phone asking me to come back to 81st (just south of whyte ave) and 105th (just 2 blocks west of the road highway 2 dumps onto). This struck me as odd as it was nowhere near where the apartment was. All was explained, however when I arrived and saw the 20' truck my friend's dad borrowed from work parked in the middle of the intersection with 2 cop cars a fire engine and an ambulance on site.
The accident:
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I feel obliged to point out, for non-edmontonians, that whyte ave is a main artery during the weekend and it has been taken down to two of 4 lanes due to construction leading to INTENSE congestion. Many, to avoid this construction, have been driving down the 2 lane 81st ave. As such having an accident of this level there leads to congestion on the detour for an overly congested route. Point is... "busy" doesn't entirely cover it.
Anyhow... I guess he was at a stop sign and went forward when experts would agree it was unsafe to do so. As such he tagged a biker. Fortunately ambulance was just precaution; the biker was fine other than a bruised leg (go figure). The bike was, of course, written off and the truck's steering was misaligned plus the bumper was rather bent. We are fortunate some sports bikers actually *are* racers and so wear that heavy-duty body armour and are trained for the eventuality of a fall.
Point is, we limped the truck to the new place, unloaded, and then I dropped off the father at the greyhound so he could get back to Calgary while the truck was towed off to somewhere that could fix it.
.
Most definately a change from my normal WoW-sponsored weekends though.
