Argh. Post deleted. Fuck. Short version:
Awesome weekend... Calgary trips, while expensive, remain among my favorite parts of the year; I never regret leaving home for them. My cats were even nice enough not to destroy the house while I was gone so, overall it is a definate "win."
Saturday was great... a good walk around downtown Calgary was nice as I've never really had a chance to see the city. I was disappointed to see the old A&B Sound is no longer where it is which is a pity; lame as it may be, that 3 story tribute to music and comics was one of the few reasons my family would make the trek to Calgary all the way from Innisfail. Char1es's barbeque was just as fabulous as it was last time around and the house party also kicked ass. Especially when we had 3 lovely ladies sans shirts on the balcony. Funny how things like conservative neighbors don't occur to you after enough liquor and, unfortunately, I must say I consumed what can only be called "too much" liquor on that fated eve.
Given that it is 2 days later however and nobody has yelled me out yet I assume I only dragged myself through the emo gutter. Generally my friends are nice enough to let me know when I should get smacked in the face so I'll go with them on this one. Either way, the breakfast on Sunday was enough to cleanse any suck from the system. Thank you, Ship & Anchor. Also, thank you to all the Calgary people who came out and made us Edmontonians feel welcome. Your company was, as always, a delight.
After all that I wasn't sure how today could possibly keep from being a let down after all that. Fortunately, all it took was a quick rollerblade down to my Freakpirate's place to keep myself entertained. He covers it well on his page so I won't go into details... suffice it to say the two of us stress tested the street's drainage system and the system lost. Were it not for it being a nice warm day I might have minded spending half an hour collecting and dumping water. As it was, it was a nice cool-down after watching "The Incredibles."
After that we, reasonably victorious, enjoyed pizza and watched "Full Metal Jacket" which is a delight of a movie. I suggest you all see it (if you haven't already) but... maybe... watch it prior to "The Incredibles" so you don't end your day on a war-movie downer.
For now though, I'm off to bed.

sometime the stars will align so we can actually hang out!

True... but that would really involve me caring about the quality of my journal above my own personal happiness. Those pictures make me pretty damn happy.
