I went and watched "Silent Hill" on Tuesday. I was afraid; another videogame gone movie that didn't get great reviews. Fortunately this was not the case; I went with a lover of the game series and she seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.
One piece of advice though: If you go and watch it don't listen to HedPE on the way home in the dark. I creeped myself out quite effectively. A lot of that I attribute to the films good (and, to me, videogame-esque) visual style. Great music score and very solid performances. Go and see it now. It's 2 dollars. I digress.
Godsmack was on wednesday. This is a band that I fell in love with in my first (and only, alas) rock band. "Whatever" is the song I blame for the damage I did to my voice in high school. The "Much Loud Tour" is still my favorite concert that I ever went to, despite the kinda lame Cardinal Offishal (don't know or care how to spell that). They did not disappoint; drum duets make my heart sing. I apologize to anyone on the site I might have pushed past in the first song... my friends and I started off 20 people back or so and when the music started and nobody jumped around like idiots so we knew we were in the wrong place. By the middle of the concert we had worked our way to the third row and it was glorious if for no other reason than to prove to all the assholes behind us that you can make it almost to the front without being a prick.
I tried out my rollerblades yesterday and discovered that:
1-Rollerblading is truly awesome-tastic.
2-Falling getting onto the sidewalk is not so awesome-tastic.
Scraping off a layer of skin hurts a lot less in my memory than even now (24hrs later). I became wimpy in my old age and didn't even notice, alas. I guess I've got to find me some elbow pads unless I want scars with the story "I couldn't negotiate a sidewalk. No... I was sober at the time."
