Love, lust and pinkness
I fell in love with a pink haired dude!
Tell me if he is not super hot...
But, as important as he being hot, is that he has developed the concept of something me and my virtual friends know in our hearts: digital intimacy. The web provides a medium for people to connect to each other - and these connections, far from being superficial, can be deep and fulfilling in a way that leaves us thinking "how could that happen if I have never seen/touched/kissed/made eye contact with this person"?
I still don't know, but I am a Believer.
He hosts a site called Hug Nation, where people around the world gather once a week for a virtual collective hug. Because people "would rather Hug you than hurt you"!
Every Tuesday, at 1pm West Coast time, the entire world takes 60 seconds and gives themselves (or anyone next to them) a hug.
Think of it as a sort of prayer -- a communal expression of compassion. It is a weekly reminder that we are connected and we all far more similar than we are different. Everyone can use a hug.
The world is torn apart. We need to connect. We need to be able to reach out and feel that there are people out there who care and love and feel like we do.
We need to be able to feel that -- regardless of what soil our feet are planted on --our hearts are in the same place.
For the first time in the history, we have the tools to connect the entire world. The Internet may be a nifty place to buy your books online, but at its core, it is a way for ALL of us to connect to one another.
Now, more than ever, we need to use any tools we have to heal our planet. Will it work? A better question is, "Will we try?"
And what to say about the virtual grace? It almost makes me cry! Thanks is THE word in my life.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnd what about the Globalgasm????
"Globalgasm is a weekly digital orgy with the intent of healing the planet
Imagine the entire world having sex at once!
To participate, simply have a orgasm at the designated time!"
You gots to love a guy like that!
Go for it!
