hey all!
well. things are happening in my life. i'll share a few.
my dad is getting married - this is fantastic news. he met his fiancee nicole a year ago while she was visiting her daughter stephanie who lives here in melbourne with her australian husband mark. all too soon nicole's visa expired and she had to return to montreal, quebec canada. she and dad spoke twice a day for six months, and he visited her for two weeks. nicole returned to my dad's house shortly before christmas last year and they have been ridiculously happy together. nicole wanted to get married very early on but my dad was much more reserved about the idea. but after thinking it over and consulting me, he surprised her last week with an engagement ring when he took her out for a posh dinner. so the engagement party is at stephanie and mark's apartment next sunday and the wedding is on april 20th. just steph and mark, myself, my sister and brother, and my dad's two best friends for thirty years. they have booked a room in a fancy hotel where they will treat themselves with massages, spas and what-not until the evening when the guests and celebrant will arrive for a very short ceremony, then downstairs for dinner. i am so excited for nicole to become my step-mother and for my dad to have a wife again. nicole is the first woman he's been with since having a horrible split from my mum over ten years ago. nicole will have to return to canada after the wedding to sell her apartment and things, when she returns later in the year they will buy a house together
i am so happy for them both!
i didn't go to uni at all this week cos i was feeling sick, depressed and exhausted. i havn't found out the consequences of my absence yet (i missed a test and handing in a piece of assessed work), but if i've failed some subjects i'll just have to repeat them or try to make them up during the winter break. i've been at a really low mental point, where i felt school was too much for me to handle. upon thinking clearly i know this isn't true, but i also know i'll always have these defeatist moments of no self-belief from time to time
i had a date with my wonderful friend felicity last tuesday and dinner with my friend sjaan the following night. i love felicity so much, she always understands me and is so supportive and inspiring - i feel recharged after hanging out with her. and sjaan is fantastic too, she is still doing the nursing degree that i began and dropped out of last year. sjaan has moved to the same general are i live in, so i will be visiting her house sometime soon. i am so thankful for the beautiful friends i am blessed to have
that's all for now. i dedicated the whole evening to catching up with sg friends, now it's 1am and i'm going to bed in the hopes that i'll actually get some sleep before leaving for work in 7 hours. wish me luck
best wishes to you, xox jen

I will come to Australia in November this year!! I'm trying to book my ticket but it's a bit of a hassle from here, but FOR SURE I'm going to be there! You're in Melbourne right? I shall see you there
