just thinkin about some quotes from my thesis:
Whoever speaks one of the basic words enters into the word and stands in it. "
-Martin Buber
Were I to compare religion with anything it would be music, which is indeed otherwise closely connected to it. Music is one great whole; it is a special, a self-contained revelation of the world.
- Frederich Schleiermacher
what is the difference between listening to music and experiencing it? knowing a word and entering to stand within it?
it seems that most of us spend our lives standing outside of other's experience, living within our own. constantly within the realm of subject-object experience, ourselves ever the subject, the rest of the world ever the object. have you ever stepped outside?
just some thoughts... more later.

Let's see, I've had about three hits from the pipe and about a bottle of red wine! How do the Koreans feel about marijuana?
I think we necessarily have to have a subject-object relationship with the world. It's within our genes to do so. Although that does beg the question of more social creatures like bees that may see the world more in terms of their colonies than as individuals.
But as for your first question.. the differnce between listening to music and playing it is infinite. I often played live music when I was younger and once you become good enough, you stop playing music. You start feeling it come from you, litterally as expressive as an actor may let out a sigh of happiness or sadness. I love listening to music and I love playing it. I prefer the latter but both are transcendental!
