My big brother Carl passed away Tuesday after a short, tough fight with cancer. Carl was my "Cool" brother and just about the coolest guy I ever knew. He dated the hippest girls in school, hitchhiked around Europe and sold beads on the street in Paris. Was a CO during the 'Nam years, living up to his own ideals. He rode a Harley and for the last thirty years was an avid whitewater kayaker and canoeist based in Portland, Oregon. Plus he was a career teacher in alternative high schools and a language and math tutor for the Spanish speaking community. His family and a ton of his friends are going to miss this guy.
