A great Lady, U.K. while not widely known today, is a giant in the field of Fantasy and Science Fiction. Her "Orsinian Tales" and novels, "The Left Hand of Darkness" and "The Dispossessed" are great works of humanist literature, as well as courageous explorations of transgender and alternative relationships. She has been an inspiration and an example to me, personally, both as a writer and as a human being. I encourage all my friends to read her works. You will be uplifted, entertained and amazed that one person can be so compassionate. She once said that, "Science fiction is really about the world and people of today..." I weep for our loss of her insight and great heart...
