Hanging with Lola
last night's post 'cause I dig it
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
2nd Ave. Aria
2nd and Houston
going down
into
a hundred years of New York funk
blood
sweat
and tears there
as the F train runs
from Queens-bound
to the BK lounge
today
you're going uptown
38th and 5th
your destination
when you hit street side
you still feel the pulse
like blood rushing
across the City's arterial
lines
below
and you remember
the glamor of
watching other trains pass
the window glare
the silent movie
shutter speed
peek at the car
across the tracks
as the World
at
a
decrescendo
approaches
stillness
that kilk klak heartbeat
that never stops
never stops
never stops
there is no stopping
even when the trains go silent
To paraphrase, I wonder if anyone besides me has any decent secrets?
I like your poems. I already know you're a bukowski fan, but if I had to guess I'd say there's good influences from Carver and Charles Simic.
They're definitely a pleasure to read.
Happy New Year's, sir!
