On the 20th of March the Sheffield Steelers beat the Fife Flyers 3-1 at the Fife ice arena in the final game of the 2015/16 EIHL regular season to secure a 2nd straight league championship 7 months later the 2 teams would meet at the house of steel as the championship banner was raised. A Steeler last season Russ Moyer returned to the arena as a Flyer while former Steelers Rod Sarich and Jason Hewitt were also in attendance. The Steelers would have multiple chances on the powerplay it would be the Flyers who would take the lead through a Brendan Brooks breakaway to end the 1st period at 1-0 to the visitors. In the 2nd both netminders made some fantastic saves to keep it a tight game however Levi Nelson would score on his return following a broken wrist to level the scores after the 2nd period. In the 3rd the Steelers stepped up a gear to get the win. Robert Dowd would get the game winner with Tyler Mosienko scoring following a controversial scramble in front of goal and Guillaume Desbiens would get the final goal to secure the 2 points on a Saturday night.

The following night the Steelers and Flyers met again this time in Fife where the Steelers would get a 4-2 victory to secure a 4 point weekend and move up to 3rd in the elite league table.
next weekend will be a home/away double against the Coventry Blaze in the Steelers final challenge cup group B game on Saturday at the Sheffield arena and a elite league game at the skydome arena in Coventry on Sunday
