...i think it was during the last few days of the falling leaves. jeremy sprout and myself were perched on the greenest of hills high above the city, so sweet it was that it seemed like a giant velvet heart beating on the edge of the city bustle. as the evening was on the edge of our minds - and the sun like a tired ghost had begun to fall, it came. it was the vibrating dream of every sleepless night i had spent reading our family collection of ancient encyclopedias and readers digest compendiums, and it widened our little minds such that sleep would never be quite the same event. it came from behind the city library and gelled its way down main street, a quiet, trembling hulk of aqueous blue ice - or if in its right setting, an gigantic iceberg! how i had dreamed and prayed so hard that i would stumble across such a beauty. a sweet breeze followed and filled our lungs with an ecstatic high! we both jumped to standing and mindlessly hugged each others spindly frames. as we cried out with pure excitement, the magic iceberg, which had as if invisible, quietly rolled it way through the middle of town and begun the rise up our favorite hill! it left a trail, or more aptly a river of the sweetest blue behind its it gelling tail. in the madness of down the hill-to-run i spied a wild heart beating within its vast icy chest, and the brilliant sound of a thousand shearing glaciers began to ring like a morning bell in every cell of my being. everything stopped. every shadow became a flood of bluest sound. everything made by human hand had become a vast growth of forest green, and every splintering stone had turned into living ice.... all in the seeming confines of a child's mind. i was peened wide as i rode the trembling beauty and felt its strange warmth through sky blue corduroy. smiling, i watched the city disappear into pinpoints of shining green as we made for the foothills, its giant beating heart like a mothers breast. i can still remember the electricity that shot from every pore as we rode our giant sentinel into the sunset. i alone could have illuminated the entire city for a night... when i awoke, wrapped in my bunny rug and with eyes full of sleep - i saw a snowflake fall at the foot of my bed. i felt the fullness and wondered if jeremy did too. blush
