Well I have my new place. Paid bond last night. Nice little weatherboard place. Ten minutes from the ferry to the city, same from a bus to the city and walking distance to St Leonards Station or to the shops and restaurants in Crowsnest. Not a bad place. Cheap too. Not much of my furniture is going to fit, my desk may not fit at all, but it has built-ins so I won't need anything but my bookshelves.
Now i just have to try and get some blokes with a van to move my stuff. it is at times like this that a lack of a drivers license becomes problematic. Going out to where i have all my stuff stored tomorrow and will measure things up to see what i can bring and what i can't. Hope to get most of books into the new place, but will have to buy a tall narrow bookshelf and leave all but one of my bookshelves in storage. not a huge issue as all my kitchen gear and household furniture will have to stay in storage anyway.
No word on any of the jobs i have applied for yet; especially about Dubai or Ghana. I think I probably won't hear anything about Ghana as I don't have mining industry experience, but you never know. Dubai? Well that's a difficult one as they took over a month to answer my initial application, so who knows how long they might take to get to step two. bastard!
I want to know now.... The local job I applied for they called all my references, so I might here back next week.
The period between deciding to leave a job and actually leaving you find yourself twiddling your thumbs; mentally rather than physically in my case since I like to work and have lots on, but you are waiting to start afresh rather than concentrating on what you are doing.
So a move early next week. Been nice of my best mate and his wife - and my two god daughters - to put up with me for two months, but I am looking forward to being back from the suburban boonies.
