I saw the new Wolverine film: nice. However; I wonder how anyone who had not read the comics as a child would have understood it. It was a series of vignettes strung together with no attempt to explain the linkages. Obviously it worked given how popular the movie is proving, but still it was like a meal at Maccas; tasty and enjoyable, but leaving you somehow unfulfilled, as if the burger repast you have just enjoyed was only an illusion. It is an odd feeling; you don't go to a superhero film and expect Shakespeare. Still it was enjoyable and i look forward to the sequel and I hope that this film will be cut from a whole cloth rather than pasted together from twenty years of Marvel prequel comics.
Job hunt is looking up; had a long interview last night for a role as the IT Manager in a media and advertising business based out of Dubai. Not sure how i feel about that. I like the money, but the location sux more than a little; hot and full of expats. The locals don't bother me much; it is their country and their culture, as much as i might not like aspects of it, is theirs. Expats on the other generally sux big time. Talk about a bunch of greedy, self-indulgent, ignorant, debauched scumbags. That's a generalisation of course, but one with a lot of truth as I have seen time and time again when I lived in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Of course if i go to Dubai then i won't be going back to uni and that is a conundrum that i haven't quite worked my way through yet.
Not hugely motivated at work today. Have spent most of the time stuffing around on the web. Amazing how hard it is to motivated yourself when you know the company you are working for is mostly likely doomed and come what may you are out the door. At least it gives me time to update my blog
and start work on getting my new writing blog up and running. Hopefully i will finish that tonight and then commit myself to doing some writing every day.
