I don't know if anybody from out of state heard the news of New Jersey's flooding, but my town got it pretty fucking bad.
Cranford had a mandatory evacuation and since the Rahway River is basically in my backyard.. well, yeah, you get the picture.
We got about 8 or 9 feet of water, it was fucking horrendous. The day after the water had receded a little bit, I STILL had to take a canoe up my street to get to my house because the water was so deep.. above my waist.

Pretty hot pic of me taking a canoe into my driveway... never though I'd say that.
Luckily nobody got hurt, and we managed to hook up a generator and keep our pump going so our basement only flooded with about a foot of water. Our neighbors who didn't have a generator flooded up to their basement ceilings.
My street has heavy trash all along the street waiting to be picked up.
In other news, I got a new cell phone and that makes me happy.
Its the UpStage by Samsung.
And finally, got to spend Friday with the good people of SGNJ at minimalism's house for a BBQ.
What a bunch of hotties.

As heartened as I am by the renewed interest in the environment, it is sad to me how much is based on fear and how many 'solutions' are based only in a different kind of materialism. Particularly when each of us knows how simple it is, after a walk outside, to fall in love with what we may lose.
So take a look around today, fall in love, and do one more thing to tread lightly.
Happy Earth Day!
